An Ode to Allama Iqbal
پھر بادِ بہار آئی ، اقبال غزل خواں ہو
(Phir baad-e-bahaar aayi, Iqbal ghazal khwaan ho)
غنچہ ہے اگر گل ہو، گل ہے تو گلستاں ہو۔
(Ghuncha hai agar gul ho, gul hai to gulistaan ho.)
Translation:
Behold, the spring breeze has returned once more,
Let Iqbal, the poet, take the floor.
For where blooms bud, the flower follows suit,
And where there's a flower, a garden takes root.
An Ode to Kaifi Azmi
جو ایک پھول میں ہے قید وہ گلستاں ہو
(Jo ek phool mein hai qaid, woh gulistaan ho)
جو اک کلی میں ہے پنہاں وہ لالہ زار ہو تم۔
(Jo ek kali mein hai pinhaan, woh laala zaar ho tum.)
Translation:
A garden can be found in just one flower's hold,
A tulip garden in a bud's secret, untold.
Unlock the beauty, let it be unfurled,
See how a single bloom can paint the world.
