یوں ہی کوئی مل گیا تھا سرِ راہ چلتے چلتے
Yun hi koi mil gaya tha sar-e-raah chalte chalte

وہیں تھم کے رہ گئی ہے مری رات ڈھلتے ڈھلتے
Waheen tham ke reh gayi hai meri raat dhalte dhalte

جو کہی گئی نہ مجھ سے وہ زمانہ کہہ رہا ہے
Jo kahi gayi na mujh se, woh zamaana keh raha hai

کہ فسانہ بن گئی ہے مری بات ٹلتے ٹلتے
Ke fasaana ban gayi hai meri baat talte talte

شبِ انتظار آخر کبھی ہوگی مختصر بھی
Shab-e-intezaar aakhir kabhi hogi mukhtasar bhi

یہ چراغ بجھ رہے ہیں مرے ساتھ جلتے جلتے
Yeh chiraagh bujh rahe hain mere saath jalte jalte

Translation:

Just like that, someone met me while I was walking along the way
And there my night paused, even as it was fading away
What was never said to me, the world now speaks aloud
That my story has turned into a tale while being postponed
Will this night of waiting ever grow shorter?
These lamps are fading away, burning alongside me
